International Friendly Preview: Indonesia v Netherlands

6 Juni 2013
Anything other than a convincing away win would be a shock on Friday as Indonesia host an in-form Netherlands side.
The fixture comes with both teams in the midst of qualification campaigns, though they have had significantly different levels of success.

The Netherlands currently lead UEFA qualifying Group D as they look to reach the 2014 World Cup, but Indonesia are already out of the running for that tournament and are struggling in their bid to feature at the Asian Cup as well.

Louis van Gaal's side have been in imperious form of late and have won all six of their group games thus far, conceding just two goals and scoring 20 in the process.

As well as a watertight defence, the Netherlands also boast the prolific attacking duo of Robin van Persie and Rafael van der Vaart.

The Manchester United forward has notched five times throughout the campaign, while the Hamburg captain has scored a goal less.

Indonesia on the other hand have won just once in five games, and tasted defeat in both of their opening Asian Cup qualifiers.

A 1-0 loss to Iraq in February was followed by a 2-1 reversal against Saudi Arabia which leaves Rachmat Darmawan's men bottom of their group.

And they are unlikely to end that run of form in Jakarta, when take on the three-time World Cup runners-up.
